Kinder Than Solitude by Yiyun Li

Set in both America today and China in the 1990s, this is the story of Moran, Ruyu, and Boyang, three friends whose lives are changed when their forth friend is murdered. Each adult tries to escape their haunted past. This remarkable story explores the impact the past on a person’s present and future.
