Death of a Policeman by M.C. Beaton

This is the 30th novel in the Hamish Macbeth Mystery series. As police stations all over Scotland are being threatened with closure, Detective Chief Inspector Blair decides to try and gt rid of Sergeant Macbeth. He sends for Cyril Sessions to come and monitor Macbeth. When Sessions ends up murdered, Macbeth is the prime suspect.
