Lauren Clay returns from a tour in Iraq in time to spend the holidays with her family. Though her behavior is strange, her family are too happy to have her home to comment on it. Lauren offers to bring her brother Danny on a trip to see their mother but instead she brings him on a surprise camping trip. This novel explores the effects of war on women as soldiers, caregivers, and families.
