A modest Quaker, Honor Bright leaves England with her sister, to travel to Ohio in 1850, where her sister will meet her fiance, and marry. On the journey, while Honor is sick for the whole voyage to America, her sister dies of yellow fever. Honor continues on to meet her sister's fiance with the terrible news of her death. This is a compelling story of making do, and managing to make a life for your self in a very different world than the one you left. Chevalier is a lovely writer - you will like this book!
